This event has grown so much over the past few years. I really think they will need a bigger venue next year at least for the book signing. This event is great because it is not “bar industry” focused, but rather focused on the cocktail.

I love it… I go every year.

I understand why you feel like a fucking geek. I’ve found myself babbling incoherently around people I admire, and feeling a little out-of-place or whatever.

But the very weekend you’re in NOLA, the Comicon in is swing in San Diego. So while you’re sipping cocktails hand-mixed by David Wondrich, grown men are walking a convention hall dressed like the Blue Beetle.

Now, I don’t mean to sound snarky. I have friends at the San Diego con this year and every year, and I was a comic-book guy long before I was a cocktail guy. We’re all a nerd for something, after all, and I don’t mean to act superior.

But…

As long as you’re not dressing like Sailor Moon, you probably don’t need to be embarrassed by your geekery.

Okay, by reading up a bit, I’ve answered my own question. Definitely time to sock away some cash for this.

Sounds like fun though, hopefully I’ll make it down one of these years.
