The entries are in; now, it’s time to cast your vote for the new Mixology Monday logo.
The entries are listed in the order they were received. Peruse the images and pick your favorite, noting the letter adjacent to the graphic. Cast your vote at the bottom of the post.
The polls are upon through Friday, May 9; at midnight my time (PDT; GMT -7) I’ll tally the votes, and post the winner on Saturday, May 10.
And a huge “thank you” to each of the participants!
good sites are content driven… graphics aren’t that important to me… since all these people already put in the effort and did a nice job let them all rotate…

Hm yeah the original as a choice would have been good, though these are also nice.
So, that’s four votes so far for the original; though, I should point out that if you guys liked it that much to begin with, it would have been good to know this a couple of weeks ago when I first put up a post on the subject. The only thing I heard about the suggested graphic change was from Darcy, who had the thankless job of updating the original every month; he wrote, “I like this idea. A new logo would help better promote the event and I’m not really that great at graphics anyway!”
A bunch of folks have put in a lot of (free) labor to put together new designs for this event. How about some support for their work?
I think the thing that everyone likes about the original is that it included the topic of the month in the logo. I think if the new logos were similarly modifiable, people would be less clingy to the past.
In terms of having to update the logo, I’ve created a web page that will allow the host to generate a logo file from a template every month dynamically. This way the task is still thankless, but a lot less time-consuming as all you have to do is go to the page, type in the month’s ingredient/topic, and the date of the round-up and BAM!, you’ve got a logo.
I’ll have the page up on my site some time tonight…I don’t have the proper access here at work.
Of the new logos, I think that B, C, F, or G would probably best lend themselves to such a template.
I’m glad a few people liked the original. I do like seeing the topic in the logo part, it helps bring it to the fore-front, so people can see the topic easily.
However, manually updating it can be a pain, because occasionally I forget to deliver the new logo’s to the participants. Oops.
An automated system, with any of the great new logo’s, would be nice? Especially with the mixologymonday.com site.

I’m not sure it’s necessary for the logo to have the date and theme of each month, but I do think it should say “Mixology Monday”… Although the idea of changing it dynamically is smart, it seems superfluous when you consider that the post title is usually very close in proximity to the logo on the page…
I also think it would be helpful if the new logo could be used in a variety of environments effectively by being available in different colors, orientations, etc. It’s common to develop an identity with one design theme, and a logo that is available in a few different forms. Anyone who has commissioned a marketing firm to build an identity has seen this process… the organization of the Tales identity is a great example, actually.
There’s also a question of the website design and how it can be themed to fit the design motivation of the new logo. All of this is pretty simple to address, but worth considering since it’s going to take a little work after the fact to do it right. Since Mixology Monday doesn’t really have a strong marketing demand, (it’s mostly for us,) we probably don’t need to go nuts with this, but the conversation is still not a bad idea.
OK, well, for proof of concept (although I’m sure most of us have seen image-generation pages before), here’s a link to an example of what could be done.
Please don’t go crazy creating images…I haven’t created a cleanup routine yet…

The original logo is best.
I’ll mark that down as one vote for the original version.
I voted, but also wanted to put in a holler for the original and would switch my vote if it was an option.
although all the options are better than anything i could do! nice job to everybody who submitted something.

I too am a fan of the original.
We fear change!!!

I voted for ‘b’, but prefer the original as well…

278 votes? Wow, that’s amazing considering most roundups have less than a quarter that many drinks. :S
I like the old logo, too, but I didn’t speak up sooner because I can always see the wisdom of trying something new.
